Now in her early 50’s, Demi Moore is still as stunning as she ever was. She certainly doesn’t look like she’s aged since she began eating a raw food diet over a decade ago. Her fabulous body has helped to spread the raw food diet far and wide, making her one of the most famous raw foodists. This kind of eating plan has been known to slow down the ageing process, reverse wrinkles from your face, improve your vision, keep you slim, improve your internal health, give you more energy and increase your libido.
Many celebrities turn to raw food eating to stay in shape for their movie roles. Slim and healthy celebrities such as Demi Moore, Woody Harrelson and Alicia Silverstone follow raw food diet plans to maintain their looks and health. Many other actresses, actors, models, and sports stars have been seen dining at restaurants that serve raw food.
It has also been reported recently that Demi has been undertaking daily yoga and dance sessions at a Bikini bootcamp. The source told Grazia magazine: “Demi’s having daily juices full of nutrients and vitamins to make her feel and look good. Her juices include banana, kale and spinach, which increase serotonin (Serotonin can be considered a “happy” hormone, as it greatly influences an overall sense of well-being. It helps to regulate moods, temper anxiety, and relieve depression. It is also credited with being a natural sleep aid).
A raw diet contains no processed or fast foods and is rich in vegetables, fruits, Omega 3’s from walnuts, flax seeds and chia seeds. It is also rich in MUFAS (monounsaturated fatty acids) such as olive, avocados, nuts and sunflower seeds. In addition, this diet includes coconut butter or oil, which has been proven to help people boost their metabolism to burn fat.
To eat a high-raw diet, you’ll need to say goodbye to dead processed food, baked breads, and almost everything else in the grocery store. No food is heated above 43 deg C, to preserve the living enzymes that are the building blocks to so many processes that our body performs.
More and more studies are bringing to light that all heated and most processed foods do indeed contain carcinogens (due to the heating process the oil goes through), a brand of toxins that are often cancer-causing – this has been proven in tests conducted on mice and rats.
It is becoming increasingly clear that one of the major reasons juicing works, is that it is living raw food and the nutrients become easily assimilated and digested by your body. Juicers such as the Oscar help to make juicing very simple. Most people notice significant improvements in their energy and health once they increase the amounts of living raw foods in their diet. If you juice vegetables on a regular basis, it is quite easy to consume over 50% of your foods as raw. Of course, following a high raw diet, you have to make sure that it’s balanced, and you should ensure that you eat enough greens, germinated nuts and seeds, super foods and fruit. A balanced raw food diet meal plan is key to getting the right kind of food.
To transition to a raw food diet, start by drinking green smoothies, both sweet and savoury and start juicing. Freshly extracted vegetable juice will give you a jump-start to a raw food diet. To introduce yourself slowly add an apple to the juice to improve the flavour. Juice is full of enzymes, vitamins, co-factors, life force, alkaline, organic minerals and so much more. Vegetable juice boosts your energy and immune system.
The general consensus is to move to what is known as a high-raw where 70-80% of your diet is raw and the balance will include some cooked vegetables and possibly some raw grains. When you are starting a raw food diet, you may not know how to begin. What can you eat? What should you buy? Should you go 100% raw or is it better to go gradually? It is a bit like giving up smoking, for some cold turkey is the best and for others cutting down to zero is the way to go. For some people, their palate becomes perverted by cooked foods and creates cravings, so for them 100% raw is necessary. Others can comfortably handle the balance of hi-raw. If you are going to transition to hi-raw, add fresh raw foods to your diet gradually by trying new foods and recipes every week. Start growing some vegetables. Lettuce is easy to grow, start sprouting and dehydrating some interesting and tasty snacks and, wherever possible, start buying organic fruits and vegetables. Before you know it, a large amount of your diet will be raw, and you will feel it. These changes will have a dramatic result on your health and weight.
Maybe we will never look exactly like Demi Moore, but we will definitely look our best and feel much healthier on a lifestyle that incorporates more raw than cooked food.
As you can see from these videos, a raw food diet does not mean eating lettuce, tomato and cucumber for every meal.
